Nader Khalili, Superadobe building methods & how we can improve the lives of many

homelessChildrenSleeping03

When one of the founders of Mu'izz Foundation apprenticed at Cal-Earth, during the summer of 2007, he was slowly transformed into a believer that every man, woman & child could have safe, beautiful shelter if we would only open our eyes and utilize the resources around us with a bit of ingenuity. Nader Khalili passed on this spark. He knew at that moment, at the training facility in the Mojave desert that he would build orphanages for children one day, build schools for the school-less, and homes for the homeless. Nader infused in him his mission of housing the poor and getting people out from under the weight that mortgages have on people. At the time he had a 1,100 sq. ft. home in Hawaii with a $400,000 mortgage attached to it with usual stress that go along with that. At Cal-Earth, he was sitting in one of the most beautiful homes that he had ever been in. It was a 2,500 sq. ft. model that Nader told him cost $25,000 in materials to build.  Eventhough it was 110 degrees outside, the house was cool inside despite the lack of air conditioning and there was a comfortable breeze flowing through it due to the wind scoop in the design. In one moment he realized that with the right training, people could free up a majority of their daily struggles by building an inexpensive shelter with their own hands.  And lets face it, we don't need 2,500 sq. ft. homes to make us happy.  We need a safe structure that is pleasing to the eye where we can raise our children and have a good life.  Imagine how much more time we could spend with our families if we don't have to take out large mortages to have a home and how many more can have shelter if we used less resources in our building processes.  It is to this work that Mu'izz Foundation has been started.  Please read about the project and let us know if you would would like to be a part of it.  Because we can make a difference, together!
